Network physicians could see an increased number of Medicare Advantage HMO members requesting services

October 31, 2014

[

AmeriHealth New Jersey had a significant increase in its Medicare Advantage membership in 2014, now with more than 20,000 members across 17 New Jersey counties. Additionally, in 2015, we will expand our Medicare Advantage HMO product into all 21 New Jersey counties as well as introduce a new Medicare supplemental (Medigap) insurance plan.

With all of this expansion, we would like to remind our network physicians that your AmeriHealth Participating Provider Agreement (Agreement) includes our Medicare Advantage HMO product, AmeriHealth 65® Preferred HMO, unless you have opted out of the federal Medicare program.

AmeriHealth 65® Preferred HMO members may choose to receive care from you, either as their primary care physician or for specialist services, which is in accordance with the terms of your existing Agreement. Therefore, you may see an increased number of AmeriHealth 65® Preferred HMO members presenting to you for service.

If you have any questions about the expansion of our AmeriHealth New Jersey Medicare Advantage membership or if you are unsure if your office accepts these members, please contact your Network Coordinator or Hospital/Ancillary Services Coordinator. Look for more information about the new Medigap plan in the December 2014 edition of Partners in Health UpdateSM.
