AmeriHealth recently released a Care Cost Estimator tool for our AmeriHealth New Jersey members. The tool helps members better understand their share of health care costs by providing out-of-pocket cost estimates for more than 300 in-network inpatient, outpatient, laboratory, and diagnostic procedures, as well as provider office visits. Note: The tool is scheduled to be available for AmeriHealth Pennsylvania members later this month.
The tool, available on our secure member portal at amerihealthexpress.com, allows members to search and compare providers by estimated price, based on the member?s specific health plan. Cost estimates can be found for a variety of common procedures by taking into consideration a member?s current deductible balance, copayment amounts, out-of-pocket limits, and, if applicable, coinsurance.* The tool also displays provider details and quality information, such as reviews, allowing members to make more informed decisions about how to spend their health care dollars.
Key Care Cost Estimator capabilities for members
Members can use the Care Cost Estimator tool to:
- Know before they go. Members can get estimated out-of-pocket costs based on their health plan for common procedures before they happen.
- Avoid surprises and save. Members can get an estimate of what they?ll pay before they schedule an appointment.
- Understand that higher cost doesn?t mean better care. In addition to getting estimates for the health care services they need, members can also compare provider details and quality information to make informed decisions on seeing providers that best meet their needs.
Note: The new tool will be integrated with our AHNJ On the Go app in the coming weeks. This free app allows members to connect directly through their own secure digital space, making it easier to stay on top of need-to-know personal health information.
