Suspected meningococcal disease outbreak and vaccine coverage for AmeriHealth New Jersey members

March 15, 2019

The New Jersey Department of Health has reported that there may be an outbreak of meningococcal disease at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey. As you know, vaccination is the best way to protect against meningococcal disease. We want to remind providers about coverage of vaccines for the prevention of this condition for AmeriHealth New Jersey members.

The meningococcal conjugate vaccine (MenA, C, W, and Y) and the serogroup B vaccine (MenB) are covered for AmeriHealth New Jersey members who have indications to receive these vaccines, including during suspected outbreaks.
