Change to the outpatient laboratory provider network for AmeriHealth Pennsylvania members now in effect

October 6, 2017

Attention! An update has been made to this page.

As previously communicated, there has been a change to the AmeriHealth HMO, Inc. (AmeriHealth) outpatient laboratory provider network. The change and impact to providers are outlined below.

Outpatient laboratory provider network change

As of October 1, 2017, AmeriHealth ended its contract with Quest Diagnostics (Quest), and Quest is now considered out-of-network.

This change applies to all AmeriHealth Pennsylvania HMO and POS members, including individual and group members.

Re-issue of ID cards for affected members

Most practices that were previously capitated to Quest Diagnostics were automatically assigned Laboratory Corporation of America® Holdings (LabCorp)* as their new capitated outpatient laboratory provider as of October 1, 2017.

As a result of the new assignment, HMO and POS members were issued a new member ID card that indicates the member?s capitated laboratory provider through the Lab Indicator.

As they do today, physicians should check the member?s ID card and use the Eligibility and Benefits Inquiry transaction on the NaviNet® web portal to verify the capitated laboratory provider for HMO and POS members. Using NaviNet ensures that practices have the most accurate information.

*Unless another participating outpatient laboratory provider was selected.

Establish your electronic interfaces with LabCorp

If your practice has recently been assigned to LabCorp, you will need to establish a new electronic interface. LabCorp offers a variety of test ordering and result delivery solutions that provide the flexibility to meet clients' needs, including several electronic options:
