ICD-10 implementation update: AmeriHealth continues to move forward

May 1, 2012

On February 16, 2012, the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services (HHS) announced that they would initiate a process to delay the date by which certain health care entities have to comply with ICD-10. After working through the rulemaking process to re-examine the pace at which HHS and the country will implement the ICD-10 coding system, HHS has proposed a one-year delay of the implementation date. At this time, the proposed new ICD-10 compliance date is October 1, 2014. We will continue to publish articles — on the AmeriHealth Provider News Center and in the Partners in Health UpdateSM newsletter — that focus on various transition-related requirements, including our ?ICD-10 Spotlight: Know the codes? section, which features examples of how ICD-9 codes will translate to ICD-10 codes. You can refer to the ICD-10 section of our website for additional information about the AmeriHealth transition to ICD-10.
