AmeriHealth has established a new policy to address reimbursement for inpatient hospital readmissions to the same hospital, or a hospital within the same Health System, within three days of discharge from a previous inpatient hospital stay and for a condition directly related to the original inpatient hospital stay. Effective September 1, 2011, Claim Payment Policy #00.01.47: Inpatient Hospital Readmissions will be applied to all admissions that are paid on a per-case or per-admission basis.
