Effective July 1, 2022, FutureScripts, AmeriHealth Pennsylvania's pharmacy benefits manager, will make its standard biannual changes to its Premium Formulary.
The Premium Formulary is a restricted formulary managed by FutureScripts available to commercial members. It includes all therapeutic categories and provides physicians with prescribing options. The formulary is reviewed biannually to add new drugs and to remove brand-name drugs when a generic equivalent becomes available.
Key updates
- Formulary. Drugs listed on the formulary will be moved to one of the following statuses:
- Preferred formulary
- Excluded
- Generic tier
- Utilization Management. Strategies for select drugs will be enhanced with new or revised quantity limits and/or prior authorization edits. This will impact such categories as antipsychotics and erectile dysfunction agents, among others.
- High Deductible Health Plan Preventive Drug List. These drug classes are being added:
- Select antidepressants
- Bowel preparations
- Diabetic test strips and lancets
