As part of the enhanced lead testing program, AmeriHealth HMO, Inc. and AmeriHealth Insurance Company of New Jersey providers are reminded to promptly administer the lead test to patients ages 2 and younger with no record of a blood lead level test.
- If you are fully trained and have the supplies to administer a lead test using the filter paper technique, please test eligible patients at their next routine office visit.
- If your patient has a telemedicine visit, please write a prescription so the patient can have the lead test administered at a local Labcorp, Inc. (Labcorp) patient service center, including Labcorp at Walgreens locations.* Once they have the prescription, the patient's parent or guardian can find a full list of Labcorp locations online and schedule an appointment.
Samples (collected in your office or at any Labcorp patient service center) will be tested at a Labcorp laboratory, with results delivered to you in a few days. Once you receive the results, please follow up with your patients as needed.
For more information on the enhanced lead testing program, contact Joy Binns at 215-241-3941. For questions regarding the filter paper testing technique, contact your Labcorp representative at 1-877-725-7241 or Joe Huffer at hufferj@labcorp.com.
*Use CPT® code 83655 to report the completion of lead testing in the office or at a Labcorp patient service center.
