When using the Authorization Submission transaction in PEAR Practice Management (PM) for requests that include specific drug dosage and frequency detail, please take note of the Type when entering the number of units. This applies to the following service types:
- Ambulatory Chemotherapy
- Ambulatory Infusion Therapy
- Chemotherapy
- Home Infusion
- Infusion
The drug code itself is assigned the Type value of Visits. The following example is shown to help you with submitting requests.
Home Infusion example
When entering the number of units for J1745 (injection, infliximab, excludes biosimilar, 10 mg), the Type equals Visits and the Units value should represent the number of visits.
In this example, the request is for 4 visits of Remicade® injections with a dosage of 300 milligrams once every 8 weeks.
