Prospect Crozer, LLC (Crozer Health) has announced the closure of Crozer-Chester Medical Center and Taylor Hospital. Additional providers may be impacted as well.
Capitation sites
These closures may impact capitated radiology and physical therapy services for your Independence Blue Cross (IBX) patients.
If your office currently relies on Crozer Health for these services, it is important to choose a new designated site as soon as possible to ensure a smooth transition for your IBX patients.
To choose a new capitated site online, complete and submit a Provider Change Request form and save the autogenerated ticket (case) number for future reference. The change may take up to 30 days to take effect.
To help expedite the process, you can also reach out to your Provider Partnership Associate (PPA). Be sure to have your ticket (case) number available for escalations.
Referrals and transition of care
To minimize disruptions, providers are advised to recommend that members who previously received care from a Crozer Health Primary Care Physician (PCP), discuss transition of care options directly with their current PCP or obtain information regarding their relocation plans. Members should also be encouraged to select a new in-network PCP through their health plan to maintain seamless access to care.
If an HMO member has a referral for services at Crozer Health, they will need to go back to their physician to get a new referral. If the member's PCP was employed by Crozer Health and is not available to write a new referral, the member will need to select a new PCP.
IBX members can search for and select a new physician through the secure member portal. They can select the “My Care" tab, then “Find a Doctor" to get started. Members can also call the Customer Service number on the back of their ID card for assistance. This team can help members to select another in-network physician or have covered services delivered at another in-network facility.
IBX will waive referral requirements for HMO Commercial members who previously had a Crozer PCP for approximately 60 days (Medicare Advantage members do not require referrals.).
Providing community support
Crozer Health's closure also includes the loss of Crozer Emergency Medical Support (EMS) services in Delaware County.* The Independence Blue Cross Foundation, along with the AmeriHealth Caritas Foundation and Jefferson Health, has provided funding to help maintain EMS in Delaware County after the recent closure of Crozer Health system. The funding will support EMS services for approximately three months while a more permanent arrangement is made.
For questions regarding the closure, you can reach out to Crozer Health's dedicated call center by emailing CrozerPAInquiries@omniagnt.com or calling 1-888-801-2338.
