Independence Blue Cross (IBX) recently revised its policy on Concierge Medicine. Effective January 1, 2025, IBX will allow primary care physicians (PCPs) who practice Concierge Medicine to be a part of the IBX network, if they meet our policy requirements. This policy ensures that our members (your patients) have access to quality care without experiencing disruptions or delays.
The full details of this new policy and requirements can be found in the IBX Provider Manual, Section 3, Administrative Procedures, updated December 2024.
Concierge Medicine consists of services intended to provide a level of access to the PCP that goes above and beyond what is required based on the terms of the Professional Provider Agreement. These services may include:
- 24/7 access to the PCP by cell phone, home phone, or pager (may be virtual)
- Immediate appointment access for non-emergency care
- No or limited wait time in the office
- Extended office visits beyond what is required
If you have any questions, please contact your Provider Network Services Representative.
