Beginning August 1, 2024, you no longer need to call Precertification to request authorizations for behavioral health services. That's because we added a new streamlined workflow for behavioral health authorizations in the Practice Management application on the Provider Engagement, Analytics & Reporting (PEAR) portal.
New options for behavioral health services are now available within the Authorization Submission and Authorization Search transactions.
Going forward, please use PEAR Practice Management for all behavioral health authorization requests. Submitting authorizations via PEAR Practice Management is part of the self-service requirements for all participating providers, facilities, and third-party organizations that support our provider organizations. If you call to initiate a precertification and you are PEAR-enabled, you will be redirected to submit your request via PEAR Practice Management.
As part of our transition to a new platform, we have been working to improve and streamline the authorization workflow to enhance the overall experience in the PEAR portal.
