Options to submit claims during Change Healthcare service interruption

As previously communicated, Independence Blue Cross (IBX) confirmed that Change Healthcare, a clearinghouse used by some of our providers, is experiencing a network interruption related to a cyber security issue.

Until service with Change Healthcare is restored, here are some alternate ways to submit claims to IBX or Independence Administrators.

  1. Use the PEAR portal. The 1500 Claim Submission transaction within the Practice Management application of the Provider Engagement, Analytics & Reporting (PEAR) portal can be used to manually enter claims for professional services. The PEAR portal is available to IBX-participating providers. However, this transaction is not available for Independence Administrators.

  2. ​​​​Use an alternate Clearinghouse. If you already work with another clearinghouse to submit claims, you may be able to use them to submit your claims. Waystar recently migrated to Smart Data Solutions, our new EDI Gateway vendor, and can be used as an alternate clearinghouse. SDS does not require enrollment for claims when using Waystar. You can sign up with Waystar and begin submitting claims right away.

    ​For other clearinghouses, enrollment is required for claim submission. We are working to relax the enrollment requirement for other clearinghouses. Updates will be posted as new information becomes available.
