Now that the national COVID-19 Public Health Emergency has ended, Independence Blue Cross (Independence) wants to ensure providers are prepared for when the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services (PA DHS) lifts the temporary suspension of its PROMISe ID1 requirement. Upon receiving direction from PA DHS, Independence will again require a PROMISe ID to process Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) claims.
Providers in the CHIP network need a unique PROMISe ID for each practice location to maintain their CHIP panel and for claims to process correctly.
Please take the following steps to confirm or apply for your PROMISe ID:
- Apply for a PROMISe ID using the
PA DHS online enrollment application.
- Ensure that PA DHS has the correct address (including the suite and/or building number and full nine-digit ZIP code) and associated NPIs for all provider locations, and that each of your provider locations has a PROMISe ID.
- If you have questions about obtaining a PROMISe ID or if your PROMISe ID has expired, contact PA DHS at 1-800-537-8862, select option 2, then option 4, and then option 2 for provider enrollment or revalidation questions.
- Once you have a PROMISe ID, make sure that Independence has the same matching address (including the suite and/or building number and full nine-digit ZIP code) and associated NPIs for all provider locations. Do this by checking your provider data in our Provider Engagement, Analytics & Reporting (PEAR) portal using the Provider Data Maintenance transaction in PEAR Practice Management (PEAR PM):
- A
step-by-step user guide is available in the PEAR Help Center under Practice Management – Provider Administration.
You must sign into the PEAR portal to access this guide.
