Update on restoring service with Change Healthcare

Independence Blue Cross is beginning the process to reconnect to Change Healthcare for the portion of providers' claims processing that has been offline since the cybersecurity incident.

This process includes obtaining appropriate attestations of security and once received, we are re-establishing a secure connection to certain Change Healthcare applications.

Claims submission

  • We have worked to verify and test our connectivity. We are enabling claims processing in stages based on claim type and payer code. Please check the Change Healthcare Payer Lists regularly to see what claims you can submit.
  • We are re-establishing our connection with Relay Exchange and OKC Emdeon. Please note that Optum iEDI remained connected during the service interruption. Therefore, no action is required to restore service.
  • We expect this processing will result in a large inventory of claims. Please allow time for the backlog of claims to be processed.

Receiving ERA/835s

  • Receipt of your Electronic Remittance Advice (ERA) or 835 through Change Healthcare has resumed for new payments since May 15, 2024.
  • We are working to provide remittance files for those previously processed claims affected by Change Healthcare's service interruption. Please allow time for the backlog of remittance files to be sent.

We appreciate your patience as we restore our connections and resume claims processing.

For additional questions regarding your claim submissions, please email our EDI team at gateway.transition@ibx.com.
