Retroactively effective for dates of service on or after September 11, 2023, Independence Blue Cross (Independence) and Independence Administrators updated their COVID-19 vaccine coverage to align with recent Food and Drug Administration approvals and Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices recommendations.

The updated COVID-19 monovalent vaccines and administration are covered as a preventive service for Commercial and Medicare Advantage members.
