As of November 1, 2013, IBC has begun our transition to a new operating
platform. During this transition, we are working with you in a dual
claims-processing environment until all of our membership is migrated to the
new platform. In other words, as members are migrated, their claims will be
processed on the new platform; however, we will continue to process claims on
the current IBC platform for members who have not yet been migrated.
New alpha prefixes for migrated members
Some products will be assigned a new alpha prefix for membership that is
migrated to the new platform. Therefore, a provider could potentially see two
IBC patients with the same benefits plan who have different alpha prefixes
because one was migrated to the new platform and one has not yet been migrated.
Once all membership has been migrated to the new platform in mid-2015, only
the new alpha prefixes will be in effect.
Updates to the payer ID grids
To assist you in successfully submitting claims for IBC members during this
interim state, we have updated the payer ID grids to include information for
both migrated and non-migrated members. Please be sure to reference the updated
payer ID grids on our Electronic Data
Interchange (EDI) web page, which will be available in the coming weeks.
In addition, it is imperative that all providers ask members for their
current ID card at each visit and make a copy for their records, as all member
ID numbers eventually will be reassigned. Be sure to also verify member
eligibility and benefits using the NaviNet® web portal.
