Independence, along with the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association, and 18 other Blue Cross and Blue Shield (BCBS) companies announced a partnership with the nonprofit Civica Rx (Civica, Inc.) to form a new company that intends to lower prices of select high-cost generic drugs.

It is expected that the first generic medications will be available for individuals and families by early 2022. The new partners welcome further participation from others in the health care industry who are united with their goal of promoting competition to spur production of affordable, quality medication.
