A number of health care providers around the country are preparing for the
transition to ICD-10, which mandates that:
claims with a date of service on or after October 1, 2013, must be submitted
with ICD-10-CM codes;
all inpatient claims with discharge dates on or after October 1, 2013, must be
submitted with ICD-10-PCS codes.
Claims that are submitted with noncompliant codes after this date will be
rejected.
