Independence has developed new policies to communicate our coverage
position on autonomic nervous system (ANS) testing for commercial and Medicare
Advantage products. ANS testing can be used as a diagnostic tool to evaluate if
a patient?s signs and symptoms correlate with autonomic dysfunction and then
assist in the clinical decision-making process.
For more information and a complete list of medical necessity criteria for
ANS testing, please refer to the following policies, which are currently posted
as Notifications and will go into effect August 1, 2017.
