In a February 2020 Partners in Health Update^SM article, Independence announced program name changes from the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association (BCBSA), an association of independent Blue Cross^® and Blue Shield^® plans. BCBSA removed the Blue Distinction^® branding from the BDTC program, renaming it the Total Care (TC) program. We also announced the completion of our evaluation of providers designated as Total Care+ (TC+) for 2020 and updates to the TC and TC+ logos on the Independence and BCBSA provider finder tools.

Identifying TC and TC+ providers

Members can now search for TC and TC+ providers on Independence’s online commercial and Medicare Advantage Find a Doctor tool, as well as the BCBSA’s National Doctor and Hospital Finder. TC and TC+ practices and their physicians are identified with the following distinct icons on both the Independence and BCBSA provider finders:
