​Effective May 2021, Independence will remove the capitation compensation model from managed care benefit programs for short-term rehabilitation therapy services in the following New Jersey counties: Burlington, Camden, Gloucester, Mercer, and Salem.

As a result, Keystone Health Plan East (KHPE) HMO and POS members with a PCP located in New Jersey are free to see any participating provider in the expanded service area on a fee-for-service basis starting in May. Members will no longer be required to use the therapy specialist designated by their primary care physician for Physical and/or Occupational therapy. Members may take the prescription for therapy from the ordering physician to any participating physical therapy or occupational therapy provider.

Review your current provider roster and submit any changes through the online Provider Change Request form.
