Updates to medical policy on obstructive sleep apnea and primary snoring​

Effective July 18, 2022, Independence Blue Cross has updated its medical policy on the Treatment of Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) and Primary Snoring for its Commercial and Medicare Advantage members.

The following CPT® codes should be used to report implantation, revision or replacement, and removal of a Hypoglossal Nerve Neurostimulator (HNS) for the treatment of Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA):

  • 64582
  • 64583
  • 64584

The following CPT codes have been deleted from this policy:

  • 64568
  • 64569
  • 64570
