​Effective September 12, 2022, Independence Blue Cross and Independence Administrators will update their medical policy on hospital beds and accessories for both Commercial and Medicare Advantage members.

For Commercial members, face-to-face requirement language will be added for the HCPCS code:

• E0912: Trapeze bar, heavy-duty, for patient weight capacity greater than 250 pounds, freestanding, complete with grab bar

For Medicare Advantage members, face-to-face requirement language will be added, per CMS Final Rule, for the HCPCS codes:

• E0316: Safety enclosure frame/canopy for use with hospital bed, any type
• E0912: Trapeze bar, heavy duty, for patient weight capacity greater than 250 pounds, free standing, complete with grab bar
